The economy is “still struggling to gain momentum,” though long-term trends remain expansionary, the Conference Board said, as it reported that its index of leading economic indicators dipped in April for the first decline since September.

US April Housing Starts Up 2.6 Percent; March Revised Up

U.S. home building grew in April, the latest sign that the recovery may be strengthening in the long- struggling market. Home construction increased 2.6 percent from March to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 717,000, the Commerce Department said.
